present tense – monument

This work dismantles monuments from around the world and traces them with laser light. From the grand torii gate of Yasukuni Shrine, the structures of Auschwitz-Birkenau, and Zagreb’s morning market, to the voices of _Overcoming Modernity_ and a swing in Sarajevo, the subjects range from sites that bear witness to the histories of war and the spirit of nations, to personal landscapes encountered in travel. Through the fragmentary reconstruction of forms and texts, together with the introduction of chance, the work seeks to reconfigure the concept of time through a visual-linguistic perspective on history.
